1. What does CARE work with?

CARE is working on poverty alleviation through providing women's economic opportunities and strengthen their position in society. CARE works with women both because women make up the majority of the worlds poorest, and because increased equality creates development that benefits everyone. One of CARE's most important methods is to establish savings- and credit groups, where members have the opportunity to save safely take out loans for investment and access to a distress fund in acute need. They also offer courses such as literacy, numeracy and writing. Many groups organize grain banks, irrigation and vegetable gardens to be better equipped to cope with droughts.

2. Why did CARE choose to become a member organization of PWYP Norway?

Transparency in international financial flows is important for fighting corruption and promoting change towards a more fair and sustainable world.

3. What is the added value of PWYP Norway for the Norwegian civil society?

PWYP Norway can be a resource for organizations and they also push for transparency among Norwegian actors.

Women in CARE's savings and credit groups have the opportunity to save safely take out loans to increase their income and a joint insurance fund. They get the opportunity to learn to read, write, keep accounts and other useful information.
