6. Nov. in Trondheim: The people who brought down Zuma - meet journalist Craig McKune

Date: 6. november, kl. 18:00-19:30
Host: Fellesrådet for Afrika og Publish What You Pay Norge
Location: Habitat Trondheim, Olav Tryggvasons gate 30

Craig McKune works for AmaBhungane, an investigative journalism organization behind the exposure of the Gupta scandal and what has been called a state capture of South Africa. Their exposures showed how politicians and state officials have helped push the Gupta's agenda, which partly led to the fall of president Jacob Zuma.

AmaBhungane is also involved in the Paradise Papers, and has helped expose the offshore activities of some of the world's most powerful companies, such as Apple and Nike. What is Glencore's role in the mineral resources in Democratic Republic of the Congo? And how are multinational companies using tax engineering and tax-avoidance structures to avoid paying tax to the countries where they operate?

Craig McKune, financial investigative journalist for AmaBhungane, reporting on corporate fraud, bribery, tax dodging and state procurement.

Johan Hermstad, director of The Norwegian Council for Africa.

This event is a part of The Norwegian Council for Africa's political campaign for 2018 which focuses on capital flight.
