The National Organisation of Trade Unions (NOTU) was established by Decree No. 29 of 1973. It is currently the most representative labour centre in Uganda with 20 labour union affiliates. NOTU is a non-profit labour organization that represents millions of Ugandan workers and works with labour unions and community groups in all the districts of Uganda.

Ghana TUC is the largest trade union organisation in Ghana. It is composed of 17 autonomous affiliate unions whose activities are coordinated by Ghana TUC. Ghana TUC has a membership of about 400 000 and offices and structures in all ten regions of the country. Ghana TUC, apart from negotiation on behalf of workers, advocates on issues such as EPA, WTO, pensions, water privatisation and more recently, oil and gas.
